Luis: It is the second generation dedicated to logistics on the island of Tenerife. His father was a visionary opening up relationships and business between the islands and countries like Japan and Korea, creating the company Frucasa. Years later Luis created InterPort and specialised in transport and storage of freight all kinds, paper reels and foodstuffs carving out a niche among large suppliers.

May: After years of living, working and studying in Berlin, she redirected her path to the world of logistics and completed her dual job training as a port agent at the Fr. Meyer’s Sohn head office in Hamburg. For four years she learned everything about the transport, both import and export, of different commodities (wood, machinery, paper, etc.). But, the long-term plan had always been: to return. To come back to the island and assume the family tradition of supporting the chain that supplies Canarian companies.
Commodities
We'll take on anything! We currently work, above all, on food products (deep-frozen foods, preserves, beverages, sausages, bacon, etc.), paper and cardboard (for containers or cups), automobile spare parts and machinery. But we love to investigate and find out the most efficient and safest way to move all kind of freight from its origin to its destination.
Origin
Living on an island has its pros and cons. To favor one of the cons (the unavoidable physical distance from any continent) it is important that the transportation of the goods we need here is as quick and inexpensive as possible. Our direct contact with suppliers and transporters specialized in origin supports us in this task. Land transport to reach the nearest dock from the Peninsula and Europe, but also China and the United Kingdom.
Operational
Sea transport
Our condition as islanders forces us to depend on sea transport for our supplies. Although it is not the fastest means of transportation, it is the most economical and effective if the routes are known and the connections between ports are studied. We work with direct routes from mainland Spain and the United Kingdom to guarantee that your order arrives safely as soon as possible. Although at first transhipments routes may be longer and more problematic, we ensure that the planned connections are met without major difficulty.
Inland Transport
Not all of our suppliers have their factories on the coast. Road transport is a very important part of our work. After having overcome various crises (rising in the price of diesel, drivers' strikes, road closures due to storms, etc.) we are strengthened and confident that we can face any other difficulty to guarantee the timely arrival of our consignments at the nearest dock.
Customs clearance
This is probably the most complicated step in our work and the one for which we have so much respect. Fulfilling all the requirements of the institutions so that the cargo receives approval and is released can sometimes be somewhat complex. That is why it is necessary to know the structures, have experience and good advice about each type of goods and always double check in case something is not clear.
Commercial Assistance
You could say this is our favorite part. Advising which is the most suitable means of transport for each purchase, which is the most appropriate and efficient route for each product, presenting the possibilities and negotiating with shipping companies and suppliers. All aspects can influence the final cost chain. It is very important to stop at each section and anticipate possible events. We can also find out about other potential suppliers of your products to help you expand your possibilities in the market.

Sustainability
We are aware that our sector is one of the main producers of CO2. Therefore, it is necessary for the world to change to sustainable options to be increasingly present.

The largest and main means of transportation we work with is by sea. It is, undoubtedly, the most sustainable in terms of logistics. Nowadays, several shipping companies with which we collaborate, such as CMA CGM and MAERSK, have ships powered by LNG gas instead of diesel.
LM Logistics has gone from being pioneers in transporting reels of newsprint to transporting only recycled paper and cardboard for the manufacture of packaging that is less harmful to the environment.
We support the minimal use of non-reusable plastic from suppliers through the tax tool on non-reusable plastics (Act 07/2022).

We need to work on it and take responsibilities to ensure that our sector moves ever closer to a sustainable coexistence with our planet.
